Pefloxacin

A synthetic broad-spectrum fluoroquinolone antibiotic active against a range of Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteria. It exhibits bactericidal activity by inhibiting bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, thereby interfering with DNA replication and transcription. Pefloxacin has been used for the treatment of susceptible bacterial infections, particularly gastrointestinal and genitourinary tract infections.
